Designing a logo goes beyond aesthetics; it’s about creating a visual identity that captures the essence of a business. For a new academic venture aimed at guiding and supporting students preparing for college, this task takes on significant meaning.
The Significance of Colro and Artwork in Academia
The client requested blue and/or green. I chose strong but vibrant shades along with with artistic elements representing academia. The final logo engages deeply with the target audience. Symbols like books, graduation caps, and owls are often used (overused IMHO) in academic design. It's challenging not to use the "obvious," and honestly I guess I cannot claim that I found the only object never used...but I adapted it to look inviting, causing the eye to move back up toward the center "entering" the artwork. I felt this displayed the college "admissions" mission as well as evoking feelings of ambition and hope, reminding students of their academic goals.
Business Cards That Complement the Vision
A well-crafted logo should translate effectively onto physical materials like business cards. These cards must echo the vibrant blue and green palette for consistency in branding. A clean yet artistic design can strike the right balance between professionalism and creativity.
Here is a view of some of the brain storming process.
Building an Accessible Website
The logo's essence should extend to the website, which must be easy to navigate and visually appealing and further strengthen the branding. Simple navigation reduces frustration, helping users find vital information about college preparation resources effortlessly. We also used a new .coach domain. These were new at the time of the website launch, showing the need to be up to date with data trends, design and all things "academia."
